Squadron Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Andrew and Nicola Forrest’s private investment company Tattarang. Squadron Energy is dedicated to identifying, constructing and operating game-changing projects to accelerate the decarbonisation of Australia’s economy.
Sir Rod Eddington is Chairman of J. P. Morgan’s Asia Pacific Advisory Council and is a non-executive Chairman of Lion. He is Chair of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and served as the inaugural Chair of Infrastructure Australia from 2008-2014.
Dr Andrew Forrest AO welcomed Sir Rod’s appointment.
“Rod is one of Australia’s most outstanding business and community leaders and we are excited for him to bring his deep knowledge and experience to Squadron Energy’s Advisory Board at such a critical time in the energy transition,” Dr Forrest said.
“Australia has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to become a clean energy superpower and Rod will be working with us to deliver this crucial vision.”
Sir Rod said Squadron Energy is perfectly positioned to undertake the complex but essential infrastructure projects Australia needs to ensure the transition to renewable energy is done quickly, without disruption to energy security and supply.
“I’m pleased to support Squadron Energy’s mission to rapidly decarbonise Australia’s economy and safeguard a sustainable future as a member of its Advisory Board,” he said.
“The scale of the projects needed to replace fossil fuel power generation with renewables is significant. It will take companies like Squadron Energy who have the vision and the capital but also the values and commitment to supporting Australian communities, to get us there.”
Squadron Energy CEO Eva Hanly said Sir Rod Eddington’s deep expertise and global experience will provide enormous benefit for Squadron in helping Australia tackle the complexity of the energy transition.
“To have someone with the experience of Sir Rod Eddington on our Advisory Board will have a significant impact on our ability to solve the strategic and commercial challenges we need to solve, to get Australia to net zero as quickly as possible,” Ms Hanly said.
Sir Rod’s appointment follows another recent appointee to the Squadron Energy Advisory Board, Ms. Audrey Zibelman, who joined last month.
