Squadron Energy is a proud partner of the St George Illawarra Dragons and core to this partnership is community.

Squadron Energy joined forces with the St George Illawarra Dragons as a partner in the ‘under number’ position and from 2025 Squadron Energy will become the Major Partner of the Dragons’ NRL and NRLW teams.

Squadron Energy is leading Australia’s transition to clean, renewable energy, with a strong focus on the Illawarra playing a key role in delivering firmed renewable energy.

Beyond the Illawarra, Squadron Energy’s footprint is expansive and extends along the eastern states, which is not dissimilar to the wide appeal and membership footprint of the Dragons.

The 2024 Dragons Squadron Energy Community Blitz will bring community programs to the Central-West Orana and Riverina region of NSW – where Squadron Energy has projects in operation, under construction and in development.

The program will then expand into regional Queensland in 2025.

Squadron Energy and the Dragons are looking forward to working together to deliver a program of community events that will deliver initiatives for young people focussed on respect, resilience and wellbeing for both themselves and the environment.

NRL Trial Weekend in Mudgee

In 2024, Squadron Energy proudly partnered with St George Illawarra Dragons to deliver the NRL Trial Weekend in Mudgee.

In an exciting preview of the 2024 season, the 2024 NRL Trial match against the Wests Tigers marked the Dragons seventh consecutive pre-season game at Glen Willow Oval. The Dragons came away with a 34-18 win, a great way to prelude the season.

Squadron Energy alongside the St George Illawarra Dragons, organised a weekend full of community and family activities including a dinner and panel with players, a community signing day and game hospitality for our Crudine Ridge Wind Farm landowners and their families.

The weekend kicked off with a climb of our local wind farm at Crudine Ridge. WNRL Captain Raecene McGregor and Head Coach Jamie Soward donned PPE and steel capped boots to climb almost 100 metres to the top of the turbine hub.

The morning before the game, footy fans from the Central West flocked to Lawson Park on Saturday 24 February for an exciting pre-match community event with members of the St George Illawarra Dragons, ahead of the Trial match.

The Best You Can Be program

Now in its eighth year, the program focuses on helping students make positive choices around health and wellbeing.

The workshops include tips to stay active, how to practice tolerance, respect and inclusiveness, the importance of good sleep, screen time management, hydration and nutrition, as well as the important role we all play taking care of our environment.

Squadron Energy proudly supported the St George Illawarra Dragons to deliver this program to 13 schools in the Central West Orana region and 11 schools in NSW's Riverina region.

Squadron Energy was delighted to bring this fantastic community program to the regional communities - where there is no shortage of Dragons fans!

In collaboration with local sporting clubs, the community blitz program also includes sessions with local rugby clubs - focusing not only on further developing footy skills but also resilience and respect sessions.
