Squadron Energy partnered with the St George Illawarra Dragons to bring the 2025 Community Blitz program to six local schools in the Central West region this week.

The two-day program included school visits and clinics at Goolma Public School, Ballimore Public School, Wellington Christian School, Wellington Public School, St Marys Wellington and Gulgong Public School, as well as a Win the Morning walk and run for the Wellington community.

The program, run by NRL and NRLW Dragons players and ambassadors, included a series of interactive workshops for local primary students centred around the St George Illawarra Dragons’ health and wellbeing program: The Best You Can Be.’

Now in its ninth year, the program focuses on helping students make positive choices around health and wellbeing. The workshops include tips to stay active, learn how to practice tolerance, respect and inclusiveness, the importance of good sleep, screen time management, hydration and nutrition, as well as the important role we all play taking care of our environment.

Goolma Public School Principal Matt Ferrie said it’s absolutely fantastic to have the NRL and NRLW players coming through.

“I know the kids appreciate the players visiting the school. I certainly do, in terms of taking the time to get out to the bush and spread the good word about rugby league, set a good example, and the program that goes with the visits in terms of healthy choices, healthy living, and active lifestyles,” Mr Ferrie said.

“A couple of the kids are Dragons fans, so it’s great to have the Dragons players here.”

Dragons NRLW star Keele Brown joined the sessions across the Central West this week and provided her own personal insights about the importance of these clinics.

“It’s always exciting for us to make the trip out to some of these Central West schools. The students and teachers are so accommodating, and they take on board the messages that we are sharing,” Ms Brown said.

“As a professional athlete, I know how important it is for these kids to learn the importance of developing good habits and making the right choices. Seeing them get involved in all our activities is really rewarding.”

As well as supporting the Red V’s Charity Shield match against the Rabbitohs in Mudgee earlier this year, Squadron Energy was delighted to bring this fantastic community program to the Central West – where there is no shortage of Dragons fans!

Squadron Energy’s First Nations Engagement Facilitator Justin Toomey-White, who captains and coaches the first grade Wellington Cowboys side, said helping young kids understand the importance of both physical and mental health is something both teams are really passionate about.

“Having grown up in the Central West, I know firsthand the power of sport in shaping young lives,” Mr Toomey-White said.

“This initiative has a huge impact - it's about giving back to the community and empowering the next generation."

In 2025, Squadron Energy became the Major Partner of the Dragons’ NRL and NRLW teams.
