Squadron Energy, Australia’s leading renewable energy company, has had its Spicers Creek Wind Farm gain access rights to the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).
The project has now reserved a spot on the grid in the biggest renewable energy zone in NSW.
Squadron Energy CEO Rob Wheals said this milestone reinforces Squadron Energy’s commitment to accelerating Australia’s transition to clean energy while supporting regional communities and economic growth.
“Securing access to the Central-West Orana REZ ensures this project has a reserved spot on the grid, providing Squadron greater certainty to invest and customers more assurance to commit to energy offtake agreements, while enabling a streamlined development process,” Mr Wheals said.
“This marks a significant step toward strengthening Australia’s renewable energy sector, creating local job opportunities, and enhancing energy security.”
Spicers Creek Wind Farm received NSW planning approval in October 2024 and was granted Commonwealth approval in March 2025.
The project, located west of Gulgong and northeast of Wellington, is set to become one of the largest wind projects in NSW, at 700MW featuring up to 117 wind turbines.
