For the second year in a row, we’ve now had to face the challenges of living with a pandemic. Whilst it’s disrupted life for many, it’s also brought out some great examples of community support and spirit. For our projects, it’s made construction a little trickier, but our people, contractors and partners have really risen to the occasion.

Our projects generated enough renewable energy to avoid 870,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and made a material contribution to Australia’s transition to cleaner energy. We look forward to growing our projects and presence, and continuing to support communities in rural NSW.

Sapphire Wind Farm

Sapphire remains the state’s largest operational wind farm and is our flagship generator, providing enough electricity to power 148,000 homes a year. Last month we welcomed Nestlé Australia as a corporate customer, with the manufacturer now sourcing 100% renewable electricity from our Sapphire and Crudine Ridge wind farms. Sapphire also supplies Transurban, CBA, the ACT Government, Sydney Opera House, City of Sydney and City of Newcastle.

Crudine Wind Farm

A snow-capped landscape provided some interesting times during winter as we continued commissioning the wind turbines this year. With practical completion just around the corner, we’re looking forward to celebrating with the local community in the New Year. Electricity from Crudine Ridge is being supplied to Meridian, Sydney Airport and our newest corporate customer, Nestlé Australia.

Bango Wind Farm

Even with the challenges of COVID-19, we’ve managed to successfully erect most of the wind turbines, with the site to be fully operational in the New Year. We were delighted to sign an agreement to supply power to Woolworths in June, which will see us providing enough clean electricity to power 108 supermarkets a year. Other corporate customers for Bango include Snowy Hydro and Transurban.

Uungula Wind Farm

We welcomed planning approval in May for Uungula, which once completed will be our highest capacity wind farm at around 400 MW. Construction will get underway in the New Year, supporting around 260 jobs. We look forward to working with local businesses and keeping the community up to date as work gets underway.

Development pipeline

We are continuing environmental and technical studies for our proposed Jeremiah Wind Farm, east of Gundagai, with an Environmental Impact Statement to be placed on public exhibition in the first half of next year.

Good progress has been made in community engagement and on technical studies for our Spicers Creek Wind Farm in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone and several other projects that will enter the NSW planning system next year.
