Squadron Energy is proud to work with local employers to build Clarke Creek Wind Farm, located 150km north-west of Rockhampton and 150km south of Mackay on the land of the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala (BKY) peoples.

One of those businesses is Marlborough Motors, who have been servicing all the project vehicles on a regular basis since April 2024, and towing vehicles in need of repair from the project site to their workshop in Marlborough.

Owner and Marlborough Motors mechanic, Darryl McKenzie said it's great that Squadron Energy is supporting local businesses, and good for them to be a part of the community.

“It’s important for the wind farm to support local businesses because it helps them to be part of the community,” Mr McKenzie said.

“Squadron Energy has brought benefits into the local community beyond just jobs – I've seen they’ve sponsored local events like the Marlborough Show and other community events.”

The Clarke Creek team provided concrete to upgrade the Marlborough Motors driveway.

“It has been a huge benefit to me to have the driveway upgrade. It is smooth and provides a good surface area to jack vehicles up and presents a more professional look. It also helps with prime movers to drive in for tyres,” Mr McKenzie said.

“Previously it was a mix of old bitumen which had some potholes and an uneven surface. Everything worked so well and happened very quickly. I am very impressed with how quickly it happened and the quality of the finished product.”

Clarke Creek Wind Farm Earthworks Construction Manager Wayne Mills said a lot of the companies involved in the Clarke Creek project are from Queensland, with a priority for those in the local area.

“Marlborough Motors has been in business for 15 years, and we’re proud to be working with the local team,” Mr Mills said.

“We always prioritise local businesses where we can, and we always look for ways to bring benefits to the community. Jobs is a key priority for us.”

Clarke Creek Wind Farm has created over 350 jobs during construction and will inject $110 million into the regional economy.
