Thanks to support from Squadron Energy, Australia’s leading renewable energy company, Look Good Feel Better will be able to support 100 individuals undergoing cancer treatment in the Port Kembla community over the next 12 months.

The funding will enable the organisation to provide important services including In-person workshops, Home Delivered Confidence Kits, virtual workshops, and weekly Feel Better Fridays sessions.

This includes an in-person workshop in Wollongong on 2 September, which marks the start of Feel Better Month, helping the program to continue its mission of empowering Australians undergoing cancer treatment with renewed confidence and self-esteem.

Carol Kavurma, General Manager from Look Good Feel Better said each of these services play a key role in improving the well-being, confidence, and self-esteem of participants throughout their diagnosis and treatment.

“We’re so thankful for Squadron’s contribution, so we can reach more people undergoing cancer treatment in the community,” Ms Kavurma said.

“These workshops are more important than ever as we recognise that holistic patient care is a vital pathway to healing.

“The program started as a single workshop in one location in 1990 and has now grown into a nationwide program helping over 10,000 Australians each year, including women, men, and young adults undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. And that growth is thanks to our supporters, like Squadron.”

Squadron Energy’s Head of Community and Regional Development, Jessica Kite, said she was thrilled that the team were supporting such a vital program, with today's workshop showcasing just how important it is for those in the community with cancer.

“We want to bring genuine benefits to local communities, and I couldn’t think of a more important initiative to be supporting than Look Good Feel Better. It’s about so much more than appearance, these workshops help to restore a sense of self and give people the confidence to reconnect with everyday life” Ms Kite said.

“This organisation is truly changing lives, and we are proud to be playing just a small part in their huge impact.”

The workshops help participants manage the visible and emotional side effects of cancer treatment. Volunteers demonstrate skincare routines to address dryness and sun sensitivity, offer make-up techniques, and guide participants through replicating eyebrows and eyelashes after hair loss. Advice on headwear including scarf styling and wig selection is also provided.

Each participant receives a Confidence Kit filled with skincare and make-up products donated by the cosmetic industry. These kits allow individuals to practice techniques during the workshop and continue their self-care at home.

Beyond practical support, the workshops foster meaningful connections. Participants often form friendships and support networks that provide comfort and encouragement throughout their treatment journey.

Feel Better Month, running throughout September, invites all Australians to reflect on the importance of self-confidence and a positive mindset in support of those undergoing cancer treatment.
