We appreciate Ade Larson taking the time to share his views on the proposed Pikedale Wind Farm, and acknowledge that he and other members of the community are concerned about the project and its potential impacts.

It’s important to clarify that the project is still at an early stage. Squadron is not yet in a position to lodge our first planning application with the Queensland government, and we remain years away from any final decision. Sharing information now is about giving local people the chance to have their say and help shape what happens next.

Some have expressed concern that the project has been developed in secret. That’s not the case. For the past two years, we’ve been speaking directly with a number of potential host landowners to understand whether a project was even feasible. Only once that early work was complete were we in a position to broaden our engagement with neighbours and the wider community.

We take community feedback seriously, and your views will play an important role in shaping the future of this proposal. From here, you can expect:

  • Regular opportunities to share your views through additional open days, drop-ins and one-on-one conversations
  • Independent environmental assessments looking at wildlife, waterways, traffic, noise and visual impacts
  • Updates as the project design evolves, with opportunities to provide input
  • The chance to help shape how any potential community benefit or co-investment opportunities are designed - if the project proceeds
  • Clear information about how community feedback has influenced decisions.

Our sponsorship program is already supporting local initiatives, included new science equipment for Stanthorpe State High School and entertainment at the Stanthorpe Show. We welcome further applications from community groups with ideas that strengthen local connection or economic opportunity. If the project does proceed, you can expect this investment to increase significantly, over the life of the project, supporting legacy opportunities that leave the region stronger.

We are committed to listening, answering questions, and being transparent as the project progresses. If you’d like to stay informed or meet with us directly, please get in touch or subscribe to our newsletter.
