Squadron Energy today announced the launch of its Power Promise Program, with Queensland the first to benefit from energy bill rebates for local residents and businesses near Clarke Creek Wind Farm.

Australia’s leading renewable energy company is proud to launch the first initiative under the Power Promise Program, the Squadron Energy Bill Bonus pilot, a direct energy bill rebate program designed to benefit members of the community living near our renewable energy projects.

As part of a pilot program, the Energy Bill Bonus is now available to residents living within a 20km radius of Stage One of Squadron Energy’s Clarke Creek Wind Farm, located 150km north-west of Rockhampton and 150km south of Mackay on the land of the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala (BKY) peoples.

Squadron Energy CEO Rob Wheals said today’s announcement was a direct result of listening to regional communities to understand what long-term benefits they would like to see from hosting renewable energy projects.

“The Power Promise Program is about putting our values into action. It reflects our commitment to ensuring the communities near our renewable energy projects share in the benefits of Australia’s energy transformation," Mr Wheals said.

“We’ve listened to the people of Central Queensland, and the Clarke Creek Energy Bill Bonus is a direct response to their feedback. It’s a tailored and direct benefit as a result of thorough and genuine community engagement.

“We’re not just building infrastructure - we’re building better communities. The Bill Bonus is just the beginning of a broader approach to community investment across the eastern states through our Power Promise Program.”

Reswitch CEO and Co-founder Kate Osaze said the team were excited to be working with Squadron Energy to ensure that people living close to renewable energy projects are rewarded.

“We believe that achieving our renewable energy target can only happen when the transition provides real equitable benefits for the communities who are close to where projects are based,” Ms Osaze said.

“We want communities to feel valued for helping Australia transition to a cleaner energy future, and we’re excited to be doing that with Squadron Energy.”

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said Squadron Energy’s announcement was a welcome step toward achieving genuine social licence.

“Isaac is on the front line of Australia’s energy transformation. We’ve been clear from the start that if you’re building in our backyard, the people who live here need to see the benefit. The Squadron Energy Bill Bonus puts real value straight back into local households and businesses," Mayor Vea Vea said.

“This is a simple, practical way of recognising the contribution our community makes. It’s not just words on a brochure, it’s something Clarke Creek families and businesses will see on their power bill, and that matters in a cost-of-living crisis.”
